The Liberty LE51A pump is a submersible sewage pump. The pump features a 1/2 HP motor having a maximum flow rate of 160 GPM (gallon per minute). The motor has been made efficient by oil-filled, lubricated bearings, hermetical seal, and thermal protection designs. The LE51A pump's impeller is capable of handling up to 2-inch solids. It runs off single phase 115 AC V at 12 amps. The pump switching occurs by an automatic float switch. The Liberty LE51A pump boasts a robust construction due to the use of class 25 heavy cast iron. The liberty pumps LE51A 1/2 HP submersible sewage pump is equally suitable for residential and light commercial utilizations. It carries a 3-year warranty. In this article, we will try to provide an in-depth review of the Liberty LE51A sewage pump.

Key Features of Liberty Pumps LE51A 1/2 HP Submersible Sewage Pump

Efficient Motor

The Liberty LE51A consists of a permanent split capacitor (PSC) submersible motor rated for continuous duty. It sits in an oil-filled enclosure. The oil bath facilitates heat dissipation that thermally protects the pump through a thermal overload switch. The housing's class 25 cast iron construction makes it strong. Hermetic sealing of the housing prevents water from entering it. The motor's shaft is made of stainless steel and sealed with a mechanical carbon-ceramic seal to give better protection at the lower end. Buna-N O-ring seals motor plate/housing. Two permanently lubricated ball bearings at the top and bottom ensure better operating stability for the pump.

Automatic Float Switch

The Liberty LE51a 1/2 HP features a wide-angle float switch having auto ON/OFF operation. It is a CSA plus UL endorsed tilt float switch. The float switch automatically activates/deactivates the pump according to the height of the water level. So, it is an automatic pump.

Performance

The LE51A Liberty pump is a single-phase, 115 VAC, 60 Hz pump with a speed of 1725 RPM. It can flow at 160 GPM. The pump can discharge 118 GPM at 10 feet height, and the pump's maximum TDH is 25 feet. The pump operates with the maximum fluid temperatures of 104°F (40°C) for continuous duty and 140°F (60°C) for intermittent.

Heavy Duty Construction

The robust cast iron of class 25The is the construction material of the Liberty pumps LE51a motor housing and volute. The rotor shaft, fasteners, and other hardware are all constructed using stainless steel. Carbon-ceramic mechanical seals BUNA-N O-rings can last long. Ball bearings are permanently lubricated to minimize noise and corrosion. Powder-coated paint protects the surface from rusting and the impacts of rough environments. So, the pump achieves high durability with its high-grade construction material. A stainless steel free-moving handle on top makes the pump easier to carry. The pump also has cast iron support legs that allow it to stand freely. Also, the legs' height permits 2-inch solids to enter the pump's volute.

Water Tight Sealing

A cord entry plate at the top of the LE51a sewage pump eliminates any possibility of water leaking into the motor through the power cord joint. The cord plate assembly is compression fitted to make it watertight, and there are molded pins on the plate for conducting electricity to the motor.

Tough Impeller

The impeller of the Liberty pump LE51a is 2 Vane semi-open by design and threaded to the motor shaft. Pump out vanes on the back prevents debris from reaching the seal area. Engineered thermoplastic elastomer is the impeller's construction material which is corrosion-resistant and ensures strength. The impeller can handle spherical solids of up to 2 inches.

Factory Tested

The sewage pump LE51a is factory verified for ground continuity, noise checks, and malfunction. The motor chamber is factory tested for electrical integrity, insulation defects, and moisture ratio. An air leak decay test of the motor housing ensures its integrity.

Certification

The Liberty pumps le51a le50-series sewage pump is manufactured in an ISO 9001 certified facility. Also, it is SSPMA certified and carries a 3-year warranty.

Further, the LE51A's discharge outlet is a 2-inch FNPT type, and the power cord is an SJTW type with 10 feet standard length and quick connection. The quick connect allows easy replacement of the power cord without needing to break motor seals. Optionally 25 feet cord is available. The 10 and 25 feet power cords are multiconductor. Also available are SJOOW-type 35 and 50 feet cords of bare lead.

Pros:

  • Oil-filled motor housing
  • Water tight sealing
  • Robust construction material
  • 2 inch spherical shape solid handling
  • Permanently lubricated bearings
  • Quick connect power cord

Cons:

  • Doesn’t operate on 208–230 V AC
